Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 25, 2026
Homesafe Security Ltd. ("Homesafe", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your data when you visit our website, use our Teardrop mPERS device, Smartwatch, or engage with our emergency medical response services in Bermuda.
1. Regulatory Framework & PIPA Compliance
Homesafe operates in and from Bermuda, a British Overseas Territory. We fully recognize and adhere to the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of Bermuda. We process personal information in accordance with Bermuda law and respect the strict privacy rights granted under this framework. To ensure accountability, we have designated a formal Privacy Officer responsible for overseeing compliance with PIPA and managing inquiries regarding our data handling practices.
2. Information We Collect
To provide high-quality medical alert services and ensure your personal safety, we collect several categories of personal and sensitive information:
Identity and Contact Information: Full name, date of birth, physical billing and delivery address, email address, and phone numbers.
Medical and Emergency Information: Relevant health conditions, debilitating illnesses, physical limitations, medications, blood type, allergies, and contact details for your designated next-of-kin or emergency contacts.
Real-Time Location Data: Continuous or emergency-triggered GPS tracking and geographical coordinates transmitted by your Teardrop mPERS device or Smartwatch to pinpoint your location during an emergency.
Audio and Call Recordings: Audio transmissions and recorded conversations between you and our live EMT-certified operators during an emergency activation or standard system test.
Technical and Usage Data: IP addresses, browser types, and technical logs from your interactions with our website.
3. How We Use Your Information
We process your information solely for legitimate business purposes connected with your personal safety and security, including:
-
Dispatching EMTs, first responders, or your designated contacts to your exact location during an emergency.
-
Maintaining continuous, live audio lines with users until they are safely under the care of an able-bodied individual.
-
Managing your account, verifying subscription balances, and processing secure payments.
-
Testing, updating, and improving device functionality and system infrastructure.
-
Complying with statutory security industry requirements and legal obligations under Bermuda law.
4. Disclosure and Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal info. Your data is disclosed strictly under the following operational terms:
Emergency Services: We share critical identity, location, and medical profiling with Bermuda's local emergency services (police, ambulance, and fire departments) and medical personnel during an incident.
Designated Contacts: We share statuses with individuals explicitly listed as your emergency contacts.
Legal Obligations: We may disclose information if required to do so under Bermuda court orders or to defend our legal rights.
5. Data Security and International Transfers
Given Bermuda's status as a British Overseas Territory, some technical processing, cloud storage, or infrastructure services may rely on secure data centers situated internationally (such as the UK, US, or Canada). Homesafe ensures that contractual safeguards are placed upon any overseas vendors, maintaining a level of protection equivalent to Bermuda’s PIPA requirements.
We apply robust technical, administrative, and physical measures to protect your medical and location records against unauthorized access, alteration, or accidental disclosure.
6. Your Legal Rights
Under PIPA, you hold the following rights regarding your personal information:
The right to request access to the personal information we hold about you.
The right to request correction or rectification of incomplete or inaccurate data.
The right to object to or request the restriction of certain processing activities.
The right to request deletion of your information, subject to our statutory records-retention requirements under security industry regulations.
